Provide technical expertise in strategic technology initiatives that are critical to the long term success of FedEx. These initiatives include development of new capabilities in advanced and emerging technologies space, usually involving participation of two or more FedEx operating companies. Duties include providing technical input in assessment and application of advanced/emerging technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics, artificial intelligence, big data, and internet of things). In addition, this includes planning, execution and testing of implementation of emerging technologies in FedEx operations by working with technology developers, suppliers, and operations.

Provide leadership on large project/program efforts in support of the evaluation and oversight of significant operations and strategic programs Lead key multi-year strategic initiatives related to emerging technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics, artificial intelligence, big data, and internet of things) by providing business case / economic assessment, and technical expertise during planning, development, and testing phases Lead or participate in strategic / technical discussions and collaborate in the creation of new ideas / roadmap for future development with cross functional teams, suppliers, vendors, technology developers and operations Provide data collection and analytical expertise to inform technology, design, and operations decisions Lead testing activities including test plans and documentation Monitor and assess implications of technological, regulatory, cybersecurity, and public acceptance advancements Keep abreast of industry / competitive trends and best practices applicable to operations, safety, and emerging technology Publish / present technical reports and / or pursue Intellectual property rights.
Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus
Knowledge of a broad set of advanced technologies and applications for transportation and logistics systems Knowledge in enabling vehicle technologies such as control, signal processing and sensor technologies, machine learning, real-time mapping, and cloud computing Experience with concept validation / prototype development and testing Familiarity with automotive electronics, diagnostic instruments and active safety systems Knowledge in wireless communication protocols Experience with ROS, robotic systems, artificial intelligence or autonomous vehicles a plus Experience in transportation and logistics a plus Experience with data modeling, statistical analysis, big data analysis and data visualization Background in cybersecurity

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in business or related discipline. Master's Degree or related professional designation preferred. Seven (7) years’ experience facilitating larger programs or multi-function projects, to include providing innovative, forward thinking analytical approach, program management and vision in practical business environment. Knowledge of a broad set of analytical tools and applications with in-depth knowledge of transportation and logistics systems preferred. Demonstrated advanced proficiency in continuous improvement techniques, principles and process validation. Demonstrated ability to lead people and/or executive level projects/programs. Strong project management, problem solving, analytical, human relations and communication skills.
