The Manager, Public Affairs contributes toefforts to advance the wireless industry’s advocacy goals through traditional and social media engagement. The Manager, Public Affairs works with the association’s federal, state and regulatory affairs teams to execute communications strategies in support of the association’s key objectives and reports to the Director, Public Affairs. The position contributes to the preparation and distirbution of media material and helps to coordinate and execute the Association’s traditional and social media relations efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):
Helps to develop and implement public relations campaigns to reach, inform and motivate critical audiences. Responds to media inquiries on various wireless issues and promotes CTIA, the wireless industry. Writes and distributes press material. Engages with media contacts and helps build strong relationships with key media members. Participates in the development and distribution of material for social media channels.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. KNOWLEDGE: Understanding of strategic communications required. Understanding of policymaking processes helpful. Ability to get up to speed on policy topics quickly and synthesize information. Interest in technology helpful. Must have understanding of multi-disciplinary communications. Expertise in media relations. Understanding of how to use social media and other communications channels for advocacy and marketing communications.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 5-8 years’ experience in, communications and public relations. PR agency experience preferred. College degree required; Degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Experience in Microsoft Office, with advanced experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Detail-oriented with knowledge of grammar and punctuation. Proficiency in proofreading skills and strong communications skills are required.
