The Computer Services Consultant II provides IT support to the Viterbi School.Â Responsibilities include maintaining the instructional computing labs, A/V equipment support, user support for the faculty, staff and student workers.Â The position also assists with the repair, maintenance, deployment and support of the Viterbi School computers, printers and associated peripherals.Â
ï· Provides first and second level computer support for faculty, staff, and student workers; escalates requests/issues as appropriate to Viterbi IT management.
ï· Setup, administers and maintains labs as directed.
ï· Coordinate the maintenance of all A/V equipment, and peripherals.
ï· Support set up and tear down of A/V equipment for meetings and/or conferences.
ï· Assists in maintaining records and inventory of IT resources.
ï· Stay informed of new developments and technologies in IT and instructional technologies.
ï· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
ï· Performs evening, weekend or holiday work if necessary to meet deadlines or solve specific problems.
ï· Develops system documentation and user support procedures.
ï· Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science or ITârelated studies with twoâyear experience in university computing environments. Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education.
ï· Significant experience supporting Mac OSX (10.4 and up), and Microsoft Windows (7 and up).
ï· Basic understanding of computer networks.
ï· Ability to work independently.
ï· Ability to take ownership of tasks from start to finish keeping all stakeholders updated on progress.
ï· Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Â Possess a customer focus and a track record of providing the highest level of customer service.
ï· Experience working in a teamâoriented and collaborative environment.
ï· Experience in a managed desktop environment and computing lab computer administration.
ï· Experience setting up classroom computers using various disk imaging software.
ï· Analytical and excellent at troubleshooting software applications, hardware, and peripherals at the desktop level.
ï· Strong documentation skills. Â Ability to present ideas in userâfriendly language.
ï· Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to constantly changing priorities.
ï· Strong sense of urgency and canâdo attitude.
ï· Ability to work within the pre-defined policies and procedures of the Department.
