What You Will Do
As a Senior R&D Electrical Design Engineer, you will perform the electrical hardware design on complex embedded systems projects, including those in fields such as robotics, motor control, localization, and high-speed wired/wireless communication. In this role, you will drive all aspects of circuit board design from concept to production for embedded medical devices that supports our computer assisted and robotic product lines. These systems are for instrumentation used by Orthopedic Surgeons to allow them to plan and perform their procedures.
You will design and develop electrical components and sub-systems for medical devices.
You will apply advanced circuit and electrical system test methods.
You will conduct or design prototyping and bench testing.
You will conduct problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against component and sub-system requirements.
You will conduct research and studies to support product design.
You will translate design inputs to engineering specifications and produce component and sub-system level designs.
You will demonstrate advanced understanding of customer needs and design inputs.
You will demonstrate proficiency with product's intended use and clinical procedures.
You will learn how the financial models are constructed.
Med Device Compliance:
You will follow fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which apply to regulatory requirements.
You will independently create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file.
You will follow R&D procedure like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
You will work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success as a key member of the team, collaborating with others and solidifying relationships.
You will quickly process and assimilate procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.
You will work on complex problems, applying advanced experience and learnings.
You will demonstrate ownership and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
You will build relationships and influence among peers.
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in EE or related discipline required
2+ years of related work experience required
Working knowledge of electrical design process, electrical components, and manufacturing methods
Experience with circuit design fundamentals with experience in analog, digital, mixed-signal, and/or power electronics.
Experience in printed circuit board design processes and software tools for schematic entry, simulation, and board layout
Hands-on skills for prototype assembly, rework, board bring-up, and testing/debugging
Understanding of the system lifecycle and effects of design choices on the system.
Able to determine and design test methods for circuit or systems designs based on requirements.
Knowledge in circuit board manufacturing processes and experience transferring designs to production suppliers
