The Thornton School of Music welcomes applications for a 5 month Fixed-Term position for a Computer Services Consultant I.Â
Overview:
This position will assist in providing support in the use of computer hardware, software and networks to Thorntonâs faculty, students and staff. The Computer Services Consultant I will report to the Associate Dean for Operations, and works in close partnership with Thorntonâs IT Department and Music Operations. Â
Key duties include:
- Supports in the ongoing support of computer environments campus-wide, with special efforts geared to the computer user rooms.
- Provides workstation technical support and basic trouble shooting for network printers and multi-function devices.
- Assists with end user questions and problems. Works with basic equipment and simple applications. Provides user account management assistance (e.g. creation, password reset and deletion)
- Supports in manning a telephone hot-line.
- Assists in training student consultants and/or users.
- Conducts hands-on training sessions and instructional classes for students, faculty and staff.
- Supports in the development of user and security procedures.
- Supports in the maintenance of software and documentation libraries.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Outstanding communication and administrative skills.
- Knowledge of networks, workstations, wireless communication, security software and procedures
- Answer telephones Communicate with others to gather information Customer service Research information.
- Proficiency in desktop system service and repair groupware applications Incident/problem management
- Broad-based experience in network security access management and testing network systems/data backup, storage and recovery
- Personal communication devices Server security policies and procedures in access management and technical documentation
- Experience in troubleshooting computer services
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelorâs Degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum experience.
Minimum Experience: 1-year, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Experience: 2 yearsâ experience and familiarity with one or more operating systems and knowledge of computing environments.
